"Meibomian gland disease encompasses a range of meibomian gland disorders, including meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), neoplasia, and congenital disease. MGD refers to the abnormalities in the function of the meibomian glands. The International Workshop on MGD describes MGD as a "chronic diffuse abnormality of the meibomian glands, characterized by terminal duct obstruction along with qualitative or quantitative changes in the glandular secretion."
